The Reverend Hubert Sands and his family in a photograph taken before 1914 (photograph from Colin Younger's collection).

In 1911 Rev'd Sands lived with his family in the St Oswald's Vicarage, Small Heath, Birmingham.  With his wife Lucy, daughter Olive and sons Leslie, Havilland, Arthur and Thomas, they moved to Burbage shortly before the War taking up residence in the old vicarage.

Reverend Sands played a key role in Burbage life as can be seen from the Parish newsletters written throughout the War.  His daughter Olive and 2 of his 4 sons also feature regularly in the news.
